Riccivagabondi

Welcome to my blog “riccivagabondi”!

From now on, I will call you ‘Wandering Spirit’, as each and every of us has a fluid soul who keeps evolving. We will be travelling together beautiful places. But before that, let me introduce properly!

Meet me in 5 questions

#1 What does the blog name mean?

My name is Silvia, aka riccivagabondi.

It comes from Italian: ‘ricci’ means curls and ‘vagabondi’ relates to wandering. When I travel, I like being caught in the flow of the world. My curls are my loyal travel companions – tangled as my thoughts, and perfectly messy! πŸ‘©β€πŸ¦±βœ¨

Travelling is not a linear journey. We reflect ourselves in it in different ways. The places we visit enrich us in different ways too. Travelling itself changes us. When we are back home, we add a piece more to the puzzle.

I will be writing my blog in English. Therefore, you can call me Wandering Curls as well.

#2 Is this a travel blog?

This is my travel blog. Or, more specifically, my cultural travel blog.

It’s not only about travelling. Surely it is a collection of travel experiences, with travel itineraries, postcards, souvenirs, and travel expenses. In addition to that, it spreads cultural bits and crumbles here and there.

My goal is not to turn you into the perfect traveller, but still I will give you as many travel hacks as possible. πŸͺ‚ Travelling is not impossible, there is no perfect age to do that, and it fits literally everyone.

Whenever I feel low, or I need to find myself again, I embark on a travel adventure. And this is something that everyone should go for.

#3 What is your mission?

I am a curly little Italian on a mission. πŸš€

Riccivagabondi is a dream turned into a personal project at the beginning of 2021.

We live in a globalised world, yet we all have different cultures, traditions, and norms. We are 7.9 billion people on Earth and over 6000 languages are spoken on the planet. We can’t say how many in total, but we know there are thousands of cultures out there.

My mission is to connect with as many cultures as possible through visits, food experiences, music and arts.

And this way, my ultimate goal is revealed: transfer my passion for cultural travels to you and turn your interest into travelling on.

#4 Tell us some short facts about you.

  • I am Italian but I currently live abroad (Hamburg, Germany) and I love it! After several years, I feel this is my second Heimat.
  • My passion for travelling started in 2005 during a school trip to Barcelona, Spain. I did not understand a single word then, but I was amazed by the colours, the noise, and the lively inhabitants. I was so thrilled after that experience, that I decided I would start my own travel blog in the next 10-15 years.
  • Call me a sociable gourmet! I need the company of few close friends to fully enjoy food and wine.
  • I love going gaga at karaoke bars. Not that I am particularly talented, but hey, who cares – we only live once!
  • I am a language freak. Next to Italian, I am fluent in English, German, French, and I am working on my Spanish too. My 5-year-plan is to be fluent in 7 languages. Will that happen?

#5 What is your most favourite journey?

You are curious, aren’t you?

This one is easy though. The greatest journey is the one I have not done yet.

I don’t believe in perfect travels. There is always a light and dark side. Our mindset grows despite everything and we get new perspectives, new ways to appreach everything happening in our lives.

Henry Miller wrote once

‘One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things.’

Thank you for being here. I am glad we will travel together. ✈️
