Thailand is very popular for its various markets. Indoor, outdoor, city markets, floating markets, and even on the rails! The Railway Market is known internationally and well worth a visit. It is located in the Samut Songkhram province, just outside Bangkok.
I booked the day visit from a local operator together with the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. With our guide, we got on the train and crossed the rice fields outside the city. As the train approaches the Maeklong Railway Station, the market vendors lift their stands, and all the people make space to allow the train to pass.
Except for the excitement of this very moment, it is quite unusual to see how narrow the path is between the railway and the market stands. People know about this market and grab their cameras any time the train approaches the station. What a crazy experience!
